“Insulation material to be painted” that realizes a comfortable life with space technology

“GAINA” developed by Nissin Sangyo Co., Ltd. is an epoch-making paint that realizes a comfortable space and energy saving just by applying it. It was born in 2005 by diverting the heat insulating material technology of a space rocket, which was developed by Nissin Sangyo on behalf of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). While a well-known major paint manufacturer withdrew from the difficulty of development, the technical ability to complete the development of heat insulation technology at the aerospace industry level was recognized, and in 2008 it was certified as the first of JAXA’s “COSMODE PROJECT”. Since then, it has continued to contribute to the achievements of JAXA, which is drawing attention from around the world, such as the successful launch of the H2A rocket and the return of the asteroid explorer “Hayabusa” to Earth. It has been about 15 years since the development of GAINA. To date, we have a track record of over 100,000 construction projects for hotels, condominiums, elderly homes, factories, refrigerated warehouses, schools, depots, ships, temples and shrines, private residences, etc.

Thoughts put into development

-Eliminate heat stroke in the room-

This was Mr. Tatsuujiro Ishiko, the President of the Nissin Sangyo Co., LTD., for its thoughts on development. Among our overseas enforcement cases, there was a case where we gave a GAINA paint to the outer wall of our parents’ house for our elderly parents.

From the launch of GAINA’s predecessor “Sister Coat” in 2000 to the invention of “GAINA” through a technical tie-up with JAXA in 2005, the Nissin Sangyo Co., LTD., has been working hard to improve the heat insulation technology of paints. In recognition of its efforts and high technological capabilities, GAINA is now widely featured in the media and has won numerous awards in a wide range of industry, government and academia.

Kyokuto Boeki Co., LTD. wants to convey to as many people as possible the high technological capabilities of GAINA and the thoughts put into its development.

The effects of GAINA

-GAINA doesn’t just show the cooling effect in summer, but also show both the heat insulation and thermal barrier effects.

Thermal barrier -Cooling down in summer-

Applying GAINA to the outer surface of the building effectively reflects sunlight and prevents heat from being transferred indoors. This effect can dramatically improve the cooling effect in summer. In joint research with the university, we were able to observe an energy saving effect of about 22% in the summer.

Heat insulation -staying warm in winter-

GAINA is also effective in cold winters/ When installed on the inner wall, it is possible to improve the heating efficiency because the painted surface prevents the warm air from moving outdoors. In joint research with the university, we were able to observe an energy saving effect of about 26% in winter. The effect of keeping the inner wall warm also prevents the formation of condensation.

Noise insulation -Reduce noise-

GAINA’s coating contains air-filled spheres in a hard ceramic. This ceramic absorbs the vibration that causes noise on the wall surface and exerts a sound control effect. This effect makes it possible to realize a quiet living environment.

Air quality improvement -Odour control-

Negative ions are generated around the wall surface as GAINA radiates heat energy. Negative ions have the function of adsorbing and removing pollen substances such as dust, ash, pollen in the air. Due to this effect, the indoor air produced in GAINA provides the ideal air quality for the human body.

Incombustible -Resistance on fire-

GAINA is a incombustible material certified by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. In addition, the UL723 non-combustible certification, which is the most difficult in the world based on the standards of the American Society for Testing and Materials, has also won the highest rank “Class A”. This was the first feat of a Japanese product.
